SIC Seminar Series: Assistant Professor Andrew L. Ji, MD

We are excited to welcome Assistant Professor Andrew Ji for a special SIC seminar. His laboratory applies single-cell genomics, spatial transcriptomics, multi-omics profiling, and CRISPR-based approaches to define how intercellular communication shapes skin homeostasis, inflammation, and cancer. His work has identified clinically relevant tumour-cell subpopulations in cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma and focuses on immune-stromal crosstalk, fibroblast plasticity, tumour microenvironment remodelling, and treatment resistance. Recent publications include work in Cell Reports (2025) on a basophil–fibroblast pro-inflammatory axis in type 2 skin inflammation and in Nature Genetics (2026) on single-cell spatial transcriptomic analysis of human skin anatomy using MERFISH.

Andrew L. Ji, MD, is Assistant Professor in the Departments of Dermatology, Oncological Sciences, and Cell, Developmental, and Regenerative Biology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He runs his laboratory and maintains a weekly general dermatology clinic. Before joining Mount Sinai, he was a Clinical Instructor and postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University, following dermatology residency at Stanford, internship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and medical training at Weill Cornell Medical College.

Dr. Ji’s honours include the ASCI Young Physician-Scientist Award, the Damon Runyon Award, the American Academy of Dermatology Young Investigator Award, the American Skin Association Milstein Research Scholar Award. He serves in professional roles with the Society for Investigative Dermatology, Dermatology Foundation, NIH/NCI study sections, and multiple grant review committees.
