Master's degree course

Course leader Professor Niels Ødum and head of the master’s programme in immunology and inflammation Professor Anders Woetmann from the LEO Foundation Skin Immunology Research Center’s (SIC), offer an exciting opportunity for aspiring immunologists, with the established master's degree course in Skin Immunology at the University of Copenhagen.

The course is designed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the intricate relationship between the skin and the immune system and equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary for a successful career in academia or industry.

One of the distinctive features of this course is its focus on bringing in renowned specialists in basic and clinical skin immunology as lecturers. These experts, including professors from the Department of Immunology and Microbiology (ISIM), deliver a series of engaging lectures that delve into various aspects of skin immunology. Their invaluable insights and cutting-edge research findings ensure that students receive the latest information and perspectives in the field.

The comprehensive curriculum covers a wide range of topics, starting with an exploration of the cellular composition of the skin. Students learn about both resident cells and those recruited during inflammation, gaining a holistic understanding of the skin's immune system. Microbiology in both healthy and diseased skin is also extensively covered, along with an examination of the mechanisms underlying common inflammatory skin diseases, skin cancers, and wound healing.

The master programme in immunology and inflammation has become extremely popular among students from around the globe, and as the semester comes to an end, we wish the students who are currently awaiting their exam results the best of luck before enjoying a well-deserved summer break.
