About us

The ‘LEO Foundation Skin Immunology Research Center (SIC) is a research center striving towards better understanding and treatment of skin diseases affecting a quarter of the world's population.

Based on a grant from the LEO Foundation of more than 50 million EUR over 10 years, the center bring together leading Danish and international researchers in immunology and skin diseases in ambitious research projects that will enable better diagnostics and more effective treatments for a wide range of skin diseases such as psoriasis and eczema. SIC focus on mechanisms of pathology and disease heterogeneity, and novel therapies of inflammatory skin diseases. With the ultimate aim of helping people with skin diseases in the best possible way, the center employs cutting edge technologies to advance biological insights and translate basic discoveries to ‘proof of principle’ studies in patients.

The center is located on the 12th floor of the Maersk Tower at the Department of Immunology and Microbiology, University of Copenhagen. The center collaborates closely with Danish and international research environments and hospitals.

Your key responsibilities

Be an important part of the center management together with the executive director, center secretary and center administrator and contribute to the team’s collective effort.

Scientific and organizational activities

  • Plan scientific activities decided by the center management, including seminars, educational activities, delegation visits and social-professional events.
  • Organize and participate in conferences, meetings, and networking in Denmark together with the center management team.
  • Update the communicational strategy and implementation in the center, including SoMe activities, in accordance with the set impact measurements.

Reporting and coordination

  • Serve as main point of contact for LEO Foundation, the Scientific Advisory Board and the Deanery
  • Prepare scientific reports in Research Fish, KPIs and the annual activity report (https://sic.ku.dk/about/annual-activity-reports/) to the LEO Foundation in line with impact

Support to the Executive Director

  • Support strategic planning and recruitment processes
  • Support strategic communication activities
  • Collect and present data and prepare proposals to relevant stakeholders and for decision-making in center meeting forums
  • Advise on compliance on contractual agreements to the LEO Foundation

Center meeting forums

  • Plan meeting forum activities according to the Center’s annual cycle
  • Prepare agendas and minutes for all meeting forums

Coordination with Faculty and departments

  • Coordinate with Faculty HR and International Staff Mobility on international recruitment cases
  • Coordinate with the Faculty’s Communication Department on planning and execution of the Center’s communication strategy

Your background and qualifications

Education

  • Master’s degree in relevant subject in administration or science
  • A PhD in natural sciences and documented proficiency in administration is an additional possible profile

Professional qualifications

  • Experience from research environments and managing stakeholder relations.
  • Analytical skills and IT-skills, including experience from working with databases.
  • Experience in producing high quality reports, preferably to funding bodies
  • Experience in reporting to / interacting with funding bodies, academic administration, group leaders, external visitors, scientific advisory boards

  • The center management team would benefit from a highly structured and open-minded person with experience from administrative work in research centers and attention to detail and quality
  • We emphasize that you have excellent formulation and communication skills in writing, both in Danish and English

Salary and terms of employment

You will be permanently employed as a special consultant (specialkonsulent) in accordance with the Circular on the Collective Agreement concerning academics in the state sector concluded between the Ministry of Taxation and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).  Supplements can be negotiated depending on qualifications. The weekly working time is 37. Expected starting date: 15 January 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter.
