Seminar by Professor Cord Brakebusch, BRIC, UCPH

Seminar title: Regulation of skin inflammation and skin cancer by nuclear N-WASP

The LEO Foundation Skin Immunology Research Center is pleased to welcome Professor Cord Herbert Brakebusch from the Biotech Research & Innovation Centre (BRIC), UCPH.

N-WASP is an actin polymerisation inducing molecule present in the cytoplasm and in the nucleus. Generating mice with a conditional knockout of N-WASP in keratinocytes, Professor Brakebusch and his group has found that nuclear N-WASP controls epigenetic modifications regulating IL-23 expression and skin inflammation. Furthermore, nuclear N-WASP appears to regulate keratinocyte senescence, which is important for stem cell maintenance and chemically induced skin tumor formation. In his seminar, Professor Brakebusch will discuss how these data suggest that nuclear N-WASP function might play a role in different skin diseases and could be an interesting novel drug target.
